What Are Fat Burning Foods and How They Can Help You Lose Weight?

When we talk about fat burning foods, we are referring to “negative calorie foods”. What are they? Simply put, they are foods that will help you burn more calories than the ones you gain from them.

As you may know, each time we eat something our body needs energy to digest it – thus burning calories in the process. So for example –and I’m giving just a random number here – we may eat a food that gives us 50 calories, but the digestion needs 80 calories. Simple math, that food gives us -30 calories (that’s why they are called “negative”).

As you see eating these kinds of foods can help you lose weight, and we can eat them when we are hungry without adding more calories to are diet.

You may ask “Then why we don’t eat a diet with just this type of food?”

Although this may sound like a logical idea, a diet consisting of solely negative calorie food won’t give us the essential nutrients we need to be healthy. They must be used only as a combination.

Negative Calorie Food Examples

Within fruits we have mango, papaya, apples, cantaloupe, blueberries, watermelon, grapefruit and cranberry.

Within vegetables we have zucchini, cauliflower, celery, lettuce, carrot, asparagus, spinach, garlic, onion and radish among others.

A healthy diet consists of more than this type of food, as we need to balance our body needs with fats, proteins and carbohydrates. If you are thinking about building muscle, you must also include other types of foods. As all knowledge, use it with care and don’t abuse it – a healthy body relies in measure and balance.
