Motivation to Lose Weight. Where Do I Get It?

weight-loss-motivation.gifA BIG part of your success in achieving the stomach you want is motivation. In fact, the eating plan and exercises are the simplest part in any weight loss plan - at the end it just comes down to do what you are set to do. Motivation on the other part, requires YOU to participate.

Motivation is what will give you the energy you need to complete your goal. I mean, everyone starts motivated to lose weight, but at some point (two days, a week or a month), the intial energy is gone and we try to find excuses to little by little abandon our efforts. All those poeple who have made the leap from being over-weight to being fit have had that ingredient in the formula.

So, how do you get motivation? You need a good incentive. I’ve read these tips on a page:

The best incentives are SPECIFIC, SELFISH and TIME-RELATED.

For example:

- “My husband has promised me a 22 carat diamond for every 10 pounds I lose.”
- “My best friend is getting married in 8 weeks and I can’t wait to upstage her!”
- “I’m meeting my ex- at the end of the month.”
- “I’m going on a beach holiday in 3 months and I need serious body sculpture!”
- “I want to lower my cholesterol to xyz inside three months.”

These answers are specific, selfish and mostly time-related. So they are MUCH more likely to keep you on track.

However, I see that these tips, although they may work on some, they depend on having an exernal factor.

But, what if we could find motivation from the inside? It would serve us not just for losing weight, but to achieve what we want in life! Internal motivation is so much powerful and rewarding. I’ve found a few weight loss boks that deal with these subject such as “Lose Weight with The Power of One” and “The Truth About Six Pack Abs”, but yet, many of other books neglect this important factor and only focus on physical things.

There are of course, aids that will help you get the motivation you want. For instance, one thing that really helped me was using weight loss hypnosis tapes. I’ll be honest, to this day I don’t have a clue how they work, but they work! They helped me a lot gaining momentum in my exercise routine. Some months later, I finally decided to keep on without clutches and now I need only to keep my goals in sight to stay motivated.

If you want to seriously lose weight, you’ll need to first work on your goal, your motivation and your focus. This is what ultimately will give you the discipline needed. I’ve found some great resources online for motivation, remember that spending some time developing motivation can prove much more invaluable than doing pointless exercises:
