The Firm & Flatten your Abs Program is a program that focuses on core-targeting exercises. No need of sit-ups, pills or devices. This is a 180-page long book, which makes it one of the most extensive guides on abs exercises on-line.
The first chapters of the book are more like an introduction, covering all the basics and what you should expect from a fitness program. If this is your first program I recommend you don’t skip this part because it may prove very important. After the introduction, author David Grisaffi talks about the myths of stomach exercises (we covered some of them here) and more theory. So, if you have tried other programs and know the basics you might want to start reading since chapter 4.
What I like about this book is that it gives you test to assess your actual fitness condition, a very important aspect towards determining the best workout plan. The meat of the book are the following chapters where the abs and core exercises are explained with over 50 cool photographs of each exercise. The pics are very nice and let you see the proper form to execute the movements.
After the exercises, Firm & Flatten your Abs talks about nutrition and the top 15 secrets to flatten your abs. But having read other books like “The Truth About Six Pack Abs†I can tell that this section is not as well developed. The diet is not varied, and variation plays an important role. However the diet works if you are up to it.
Then the book finishes, and I have to say this is a good book for people on all fitness levels, specially if you have back pain problems. These exercises work all the core area (back included) so you’ll be more fit for all physical activity. But keep in mind that this extensive program is not so simple. It can be used as a start, but then if you want to see real results prepare to spend time and effort.
